RMS Beauty products were used on Giselle in this photoshoot for H&M.

Spring is around the corner!  With warmer weather and more sunshine, I'm excited to start feeling fun-loving and pretty (it's been a long, cooped-up winter).  One of the first areas for improvement is my make-up.  In addition to wanting to look better, I have been wanting to detox my cosmetics with lower toxic options ever since reading (years ago) that an average person's morning routine probably exposes one to well over 100 chemicals.  So, I am especially thrilled to discover RMS Beauty!

RMS Beauty

RMS Beauty was founded by Rose-Marie Swift, a professional make-up artist for more than 25 years.  A small sample of her A-list clients include Giselle, Miranda Kerr, Karolina Kurkova, Zoe Saldano, and Michelle Monahan.

Rose-Marie Swift

Rose-Marie Swift enjoyed a successful professional life following her passions in the cosmetic industry.  After getting sick and having endless medical exams, she learned that her body contained alarming levels of aluminum, barium, cadmium, lead and mercury as well as pesticides, solvents and other chemicals.  These chemicals were acquired by her exposure to toxins present in conventional cosmetics.

In an interview with CultBeauty, she shares:

"My background as an advocate for cleaner cosmetics came when my own health deteriorated years ago and through my research I realised many of the chemicals that were in my body were also found throughout the beauty industry.  I started my site www.beautytruth.com in 2004 exposing some of the more serious chemicals in our cosmetics and became well versed on what chemicals are put in products and the ramifications they can have long term. The site created a lot of press for me with people constantly asking: what shall we use?  I started studying ingredients labels in depth and was more and more disappointed at what these so-called natural lines thought were clean ingredients. I had no choice but to start my own line of organic make-up and I used the base of my ingredients from the raw food concept of not killing the ingredients with heat and chemicals."

The Products

Inspired by her experience, Rose-Marie created a nourishing and organic cream color line.  She took the concept of moisturising skincare and added mineral color.  The products are both moisturising and add flattering color to the face.  (Powdered mineral lines on their own dry out the skin and this causes premature aging in the long term.  They have also been proven to be dangerous when inhaled.)

RMS Beauty uses the best minerals available – they are in their raw state, totally free of synthetic silicon, nano-particles and paraben coatings of any kind.  And coming from a renowned makeup artist, the colors and textures are flattering for many and easy to work with.  Really, what's not to love?!

RMS Beauty offers lip shines, balms, 'un' cover-up, luminizers and eye shadows in colors for all skin types.  The first product of RMS Beauty that I just tried was the lip2cheek, and I fell in love.  I just went online to purchase more colors and cream shadows to try, and am eagerly waiting their arrival!  The lip2cheek feels so nourishing that I'm constantly checking the mirror, hoping to have to re-apply.  Unfortunately, or fortunately, the color lasts a long time.
