Ayurveda, also known as Ayurvedic medicine, is a 7,000 year old Hindu system of medicine native to India. Familiar aspects of Ayurveda include meditation, yoga and the alkaline diet. This holistic perspective on wellbeing can support health, pain, energy, beauty, and more.

Juhi Center in Manhattan provides "a personalized treatment protocol that includes diagnosis, therapy, education and empowerment, creating a virtuous cycle of healing," according to its website. Clients range from celebrities to children for a range of issues.

The stunning Juhi Singh, founder of the Juhi Center, provides a snapshot view into how she applies her expertise into her daily skincare routine. Please read my Clean Beauty Q&A with Juhi below.

Q. What is your skincare routine?

I was taught at a very early age to keep it simple. I wash my face every morning and night with Fresh’s Soy face wash. I apply moisturizer with SPF in the morning time. I also use Vitamin E oil at night on my skin to keep it moisturized and retain elasticity.

Q. What do you wish you knew sooner about having beautiful skin?

I wish I had listened to my mother and started moisturizing earlier and using sunscreen everyday.

Q. What advice would you give your daughter about her skin?

Always take your makeup off before bed and moisturize moisturize moisturize. Check labels. Remember that your skin is the largest organ in your body. Therefore, you have to be just as cautious about your external body as you do your internal body.

Q. What is your approach to sun protection? Do you wear sunscreen every day?

I make sure to apply a moisturizer with SPF every morning.

Q. Why did you start the Juhi Center?

Because I wanted everyone to know that they have options. I took my favorite therapies and integrated them with top medical professionals to create a cohesive approach to wellness.

Q. What do you wish more people knew about the Ayurvedic approach?

In Ayurveda, there are three constitutions, or doshasPitta (fire and fater), Vata (space and air), and Kapha (water and earth). Everyone has some elements of all three but will always have a dominant dosha. This makes your constitution unique to you, which means a one-size-fits-all approach won’t work.

Ayurveda is highly personalized medicine that can easily be understood, universally applied, and incorporated at a grassroots levelsthus bringing up a generation of children that are healthier and happier.
